Veronica Costa-Bolton

Veronica began her relationship with yoga and Pilates over 30 years ago being a faithful student of several different styles for many years until finding her "home" with certifications first in STOTT Pilates [Matwork & Reformer] then in Kripalu Yoga. This sparked a passion for learning in these areas and she has since completed courses in Integrative Restoration, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Advanced Yoga Teacher training with Emphasis in Yoga Therapy, Fascial Movement Instructor Course and just for fun "Total Barre Foundations" Instructors course.

Veronica also practices Vipassana meditation and deeply believes that the health of body, mind and spirit are symbiotic. Learning how to be a three dimensional integrated being is the foundation and the heart of her teaching.

Maya Edgerly-Steele

Maya began her yoga journey at 16, when she took her first yoga class at Kodiak Community College. Since then, yoga has remained a steady thread throughout the chapters of her life.

During college, she studied with yoga instructor Brent Kuecker and went on to complete her formal Hatha Yoga training with him in Bellingham, Washington, in 2014.

Later that year, Maya began teaching at 100th Monkey Yoga Studio, where she cherishes the welcoming and supportive energy of the community. She loves exploring not only the alignment and physical benefits of asana, but also the profound mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits offered through yoga and its philosophy.

For Maya, yoga is a meditation in motion and a central part of how she moves through life. She is honored to share the practice with others and to celebrate the many ways yoga can support us both on and off the mat.

Sam Jordan

Sam’s yoga journey started over a decade ago while recovering from a back injury. Yoga was an important part of his recovery and then subsequent journey back into athletics and functional life. In 2018, after realizing the positive impacts yoga had on his mental, spiritual and physical well-being, he decided to become a yoga instructor. In 2019 and 2020, under the instruction of the staff at St. Petersburg Yoga in St. Petersburg, Florida, he earned his 200 hour teaching certification. His classes will include balancing breath, stability and rejuvenation work.

Ella Katelnikov

Ella dabbled in various types of yoga in her early 20's. Then, in 2003, she found the style that left her feeling as relaxed and sore the next day as a massage: Iyengar yoga. She was hooked! The heavy use of props and holding poses used in the Iyengar style supported her less-flexible body. Upon moving back to Kodiak in 2011 and knowing there would be no Iyengar yoga teachers on island, she knew she needed to become a teacher to help her maintain her practice, as well as share the style with others. She completed a year-long 200 RYT teacher training from Janice Vien at The Yoga Connection, a certified Iyengar Studio in Grantham, NH. Ella was a founding teacher at the 100th Monkey upon its opening. She enjoys offering students an opportunity to ground, center and focus on specific body parts with clarity and precision as poses are held and explored.

Thandeka Lacey

Born and raised in Kodiak, Alaska, movement has always been a big part of my life. I spent my youth as a ballet dancer and first discovered yoga in high school when a local physical therapist offered an Ashtanga class at the old Bayside Fire Station, guiding us through poses alongside an audio recording. What started as a curiosity quickly became a lifeline. During a turbulent season of life, yoga helped me feel grounded, present, and a little more at home in my own body.

A few years later, while volunteering in Africa, I took my first Bikram Yoga class and was immediately hooked. I fell in love with the therapeutic combination of heat, movement, and mindfulness. The heat, in particular, felt like a powerful modality for both body and mind. That experience ultimately led me to teacher training in Palm Desert, California, in 2019.
Over the years I've practiced many styles of yoga, from vigorous vinyasa flows to long, delicious yin classes (a personal favorite). These days, life is full and joyful with my husband and our two young children, Max and Evie.
It is truly an honor to bring the 26 & 2 sequence to the incredible people of this coastal island community that raised  me. I look forward to sweating, breathing, and growing alongside you. 🙏
